Before the full-scale invasion, the family lived peacefully in Kharkiv, their days filled with joy and laughter. But on the morning the full-scale war began, they woke up in panic to the sounds of explosions. Forced to seek safety, they lived in a shelter until their father, Oleksandr, convinced them to evacuate to western Ukraine. Once they reached a safer place, Oleksandr made a heartfelt decision — he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, in February 2023, Milana and Yehor’s world was shattered when their father never returned from the battlefield. After receiving the tragic news, both children changed dramatically. Yehor stepped into the role of the “man of the house,” trying to fill the void left by his father. Milana misses her father dearly and believes that every time it rains, the drops are her father’s tears, falling from the sky as he mourns for his family.
