Before the full-scale invasion, the family lived peacefully in Kharkiv. Their everyday life was filled with joy and laughter. But on the morning the full-scale war began, the family panicked as they woke up to the sounds of explosions. Forced to seek safety, they lived in a shelter until their father, Oleksandr, convinced them to evacuate to western Ukraine. Once they reached a safer place, Oleksandr made a heartfelt decision: he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, in February 2023, Milana and Yehor’s world was shattered when their father didn’t return from the battlefield. After this tragic news, both children changed dramatically. Yehor stepped into the role of the “man of the house,” filling the void left by his father. Milana misses her father dearly and believes that every time it rains, the drops are her father’s tears, crying for his family from the sky.
