Nazar, who grew up in Bucha near the capital city Kyiv, was raised by his father, uncle, grandmother and aunt, being particularly close with his father. From the beginning of the Russian invasion, his father and uncle were ready to take up arms and defend their homeland along with their courageous countrymen. Unfortunately, they never received the chance to do so. Bucha was captured by the Russian occupiers, forcing the family to hide in the basement of their home.
Following the occupation of Bucha, Nazar, his grandmother and his aunt were able to relocate to a safer part of Ukraine, but his father and uncle remained in Bucha – only to be shot dead in the yard of their home due to the invading soldiers wanting to seize it to use as a temporary dormitory.
Nazar and his family have since returned home, though every inch of their home now reminds them of the family members that this atrocious war has taken from them. Nazar dreams of a swift victory for Ukraine and a brighter future for his family, himself and for his country.
