Mykhailo, Heorhiy and their family lived a full and prosperous life in Mariupol. The war took away their loving father, who was shot by Russian soldiers close to their home. Their idyllic life quickly turned into chaos when the war broke out, as the family’s primary goal became survival due to the constant shelling and rocket attacks.
Heorhiy received a leg injury during one such attack that hit the family’s apartment, which experienced round-the-clock bombing for nearly two months. The attacks forced Mykhailo, Heorhiy and their mother to evacuate Mariupol, needing to abandon their home and all their belongings in the process. Currently, the family resides in Lviv in western Ukraine. The boys’ mother works at the local social center to support herself and her two sons
